Rider's Route

Account & Data Deletion

Version 2.0 · Effective August 2, 2026

You can delete your Rider's Route account and its data at any time, for any reason, without giving one. This page explains both ways to do it, exactly what is erased, the little we are obliged to keep, and how long the process takes.

Deleting your account is free and permanent.

1.Two ways to delete your account

Either route leads to the same erasure. The in-app route is faster.

  1. In the app — immediate, self-service, no waiting for us.
  2. By request on this page — for when you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in.

2.Deleting in the app

Open the Rider's Route app and go to:

Settings → Account → Delete Account

You will be asked to confirm. Once you do, deletion begins immediately and cannot be undone. You will be signed out on every device.

3.Requesting deletion here

If you cannot use the app, submit the form below from the email address on the account. We use that address to identify the account and to confirm the outcome to you; if you write from a different address we may have to ask you for further information before we can act.

You can also simply email contact@ridersroute.app — a form is not required to exercise a legal right.

4.What gets deleted

Deleting your account erases:

  • your profile — username, display name, bio, city, avatar, riding style and home location;
  • your login credentials and authentication records, including any Sign in with Google link;
  • every ride you recorded, including the full GPS track files;
  • your garage — every motorcycle, its photos, licence plate, document numbers, maintenance schedules and reminders;
  • every route you created, and the routes you saved;
  • your photos in rides, stops and routes;
  • your social activity — follows, salutes, reactions, comments, reviews and ratings;
  • your push notification token, ending all notifications;
  • your diagnostics identifier, unlinking past crash reports from you.

Published routes and reviews are removed from the app and from the public catalogue on the website. Search engines may keep a cached copy of a public page for a while afterwards — that is outside our control, though we can ask for removal on request.

5.What we keep, and why

The right to erasure is not unlimited. Article 17(3) GDPR allows a controller to keep certain data, and we keep only the following:

WhatWhyHow long
A record that the account was deleted, with the request and its outcomeTo prove we honoured your request if it is ever questioned — Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR36 months
Content reports you filed or that concerned you, and any moderation decisionCommunity safety and our obligations under the Digital Services Act12 months, or longer if a dispute is open
Security, fraud-prevention and abuse logsProtecting the Services and other usersAs long as necessary for that purpose
Encrypted backups containing your dataNot individually editable; they are overwritten as the backup cycle turnsPurged within 90 days
Anonymous, aggregated statisticsNo longer personal data — you cannot be identified from themIndefinitely

If you bought a subscription, tax law obliges us to keep the invoice. Your payment records sit with Apple or Google, not with us — we never receive your card details.

6.How long it takes

StepWhen
In-app deletionImmediate
Acknowledgement of a request made hereWithin a few working days
Erasure completed after a requestWithout undue delay, and in any event within 30 days
Removal from encrypted backupsWithin 90 days

If a request is unusually complex we may extend the period by up to two further months, and we will tell you within the first month if that happens.

7.Alternatives worth knowing about

Deletion is permanent. Sometimes something smaller solves the problem:

  • Just want to stop the notifications? Turn them off in your device settings or in the app.
  • Want your rides private? You control publication per ride — an unpublished ride is visible to nobody but you.
  • Want to correct something? You have the right to rectification; edit it in the app or ask us.
  • Want a copy of your data first? Ask us before you delete, and we will send it to you in a structured, machine-readable format. After deletion there is nothing left to export.

Signing out is not deletion

Signing out or uninstalling the app clears data from your device but leaves your account and its data on our servers. Only deletion removes them.

8.Your other rights

Erasure is one of several rights you have. Access, rectification, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent are described in section 12 of the Privacy Policy.

If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you may complain to the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP)https://www.dataprotection.ro — or to the supervisory authority in your own EU country.
